Jesus In the World Today
This tweet showed up in my Twitter feed, shared by someone I follow,
and I knew right away it is EXACTLY what I mean when I say I'm
looking for signs of Jesus in the world today.
Set in the City of Toronto, the tweet by someone named Lorraine Lam says:
"It was 40 degrees C today. The City voted against opening
cooling centres. Instead pools are open late! Ppl [People] can
cool off by going swimming or to splash pad! [clown emoji]
So I loaded Prestos for ppl to ride TTC for reprieve. Don't like
homeless ppl resting on transit? City Council did this."
(The TTC is the Toronto Transit Commission)
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this.
This is exactly what we are called to do when we believe
in the commandment to love our neighbours.
To do all things from love, with love, because of love.
This is exactly what Jesus wants us to do: take care of
each other. Take care of those who have less and struggle more.
Take care of the vulnerable and at risk. Help one another.
Share your abundance. Respect others' humanity.
Be kind, merciful, and fair.
