SUNDAY QUOTE from ALPHABET OF FAITH

Until I became a lay worship leader in rural Nova Scotia in January 2013,
I ignored by doubts and I stayed away from church.
But returning to church
that way --
reading scripture and writing prayers and writing a message --
forced me to address my doubts,
to ask why I believed certain things
and why I felt that way about those particular ideas
and
over time
to ask why I no longer believed certain things
and why I felt differently about those particular ideas.
Confronting doubt
is hard --
it means change --
but it's worth it.

Writing an essay about doubt
is also hard
but worth it.

Doubt can lead us to authenticity,
to passion,
and ultimately,
to purpose.

"My doubting, my seeking, my exploring --
my willing to be uncomfortable --
helped me discover something I have complete faith in:
the world needs more Jesus."
